In 2023 Hogan was the first woman to be appointed in the role of official Coronation artist. She writes “The 2023 Coronation was filmed in detail for television and screened worldwide. What could a painting bring that the camera could not? In its stillness a painting can isolate and intensify significant moments, emphasising meaning, whether ritualistic, spiritual or simply extremely human. Underlying the seventeen paintings are ideas relating to the Monarch and the Church, the Monarch and the State, the Monarch and the People and the King and Queen as individuals. The selection embraces the formal, the personal and the familial.”
